Stucco Repair For Austin Homeowners
Crack Assessment, Targeted Repair, Section Replacement, And Elastomeric Coating
Stucco That Looks Fine On The Outside Can Be Rotting From The Inside—We Check Both
A stucco crack is not a cosmetic problem. Stucco isn’t waterproof. It sheds water, but once a crack opens, water has a direct path to the wood behind it. It soaks in, the wood swells, and the rot begins. In Austin, the exterior can still look mostly fine while the damage runs deep.
That crack that seems like a $500 repair today? Leave it long enough, and you’re looking at $20,000 in structural repairs. We’ve seen it happen over and over.
There’s another layer to this: stucco was designed for dry climates. Vegas. Phoenix. The Middle East. When it ends up in Austin, it has to work against humidity and some genuinely punishing freeze swings.
In the last few years, Austin has seen temperatures go from 70°F to near zero and back in under two weeks. Nothing survives that unscathed. The cracks are going to happen. The question is whether you catch them early or late.
At Wolfpack, I’ll come out, read what you have, and tell you straight, whether it’s a crack repair, a section replacement, or something worth leaving alone. No pressure, no manufactured scope. Just an honest read.
Stucco Repair Services
Our stucco repair services are not band-aid fixes. They get to the root of the problem.

Crack Repair
Small stucco cracks need to be handled early. We inspect the area, determine whether the crack is surface-level or tied to movement or water intrusion, and seal it properly before it turns into a bigger exterior repair.

Stucco Patching
When sections are chipped, broken, or deteriorated, we repair the damaged area and blend the patch as cleanly as possible. The point is not just to cover the spot. It is to protect the wall behind it.

Water Damage Repair
If water has already gotten behind the stucco, we look deeper. That may mean opening up the damaged section, addressing rotted material, and rebuilding the area correctly instead of trapping the problem behind a fresh patch.

Elastomeric Coating And Paint
Stucco needs the right coating. Standard exterior paint does not move the way stucco moves. We use elastomeric paint because it has the flexibility stucco needs as the wall expands, contracts, and shifts over time.
What Goes Into A Correct Stucco Repair
A stucco repair done right takes the skills and experience of true expertise…and we got it.
1. Examine The Surface Before You Touch It
Crack patterns, surface profile, whether the wall has any dimensionality — any bulging or softness — tell you what’s actually going on before you open anything. A flat crack and a bulging section are completely different problems that require completely different scopes. Getting this wrong means either underbuilding the repair or tearing into more than you needed to.
2. Address What’s Behind The Wall, Not Just What’s In Front Of It
Closing up a crack without checking what’s behind it is how a $500 repair becomes a $20,000 problem. If there’s moisture damage or rotted wood behind the stucco, that gets addressed before anything gets re-coated. We’d rather tell you that up front than have you call us in two years with a worse version of the same problem.
3. Match The Texture Before You Call It Done
A stucco patch that looks like a patch is a job half finished. Texture-matching takes time and skill, and it’s the kind of thing you can skip if you don’t care what the finished product looks like. We don’t take shortcuts. We care. The goal every time is that you look at the repair and can’t find where it was.
4. Finish With Elastomeric Paint — Not Regular Exterior Paint
Yes, this is something worth mentioning again. Regular exterior paint doesn’t flex. Stucco moves — seasonally, with temperature swings, over time. Standard paint cracks right along with it. Elastomeric paint stretches. It moves with the stucco instead of against it, and bridges minor surface shifts before they become visible cracks again. It’s the only finish that actually holds on stucco long-term. Every repair we do gets it.

Hear From Real Wolfpack Customers
Here’s what Austin homeowners share about working with Wolfpack.
Without hesitation, I would recommend Michael and Wolfpack Roofing for…
I first contacted Michael and Wolfpack Roofing about shingles that had been blown off by high winds. Without any guarantee of my business, Michael sent someone over to install a tarp—free of charge—in less than an hour to ensure I didn’t get a leak.
Although I contacted other highly rated roofing companies to do a roof replacement due to hail damage, Michael’s professionalism, responsiveness, knowledge, honesty, and friendliness stood out. Over several calls, texts, and emails, he walked me through the claims process, helped me understand the roofing system he would install, never pressured me, and most importantly, followed through with his promises at every stage.
The Wolfpack team that replaced our roof showed up on time, protected our property, worked in an efficient and organized way, and seemed to really enjoy their work. The new roof looks great and our neighbors think so too!
Even after the install, Michael helped me with an insurance issue even though its outcome made no difference to his bottom line.
Without hesitation, I would recommend Michael and Wolfpack Roofing for any roofing needs.
You can definitely tell a difference in the quality of…
I met Michael the owner of Wolfpack through a neighbor. We were talking about hail damaged roofs in our neighborhood. He recommended that I have my insurance come check the roof. The roof definitely needed replacing and Michael and his team did a great job. They work directly off the insurance estimate and used the GAF Timberline shingles and other components so you will have a 50 year warranty. Michael is very professional and straight forward to work with.
Some other neighbors had their roof replaced by one of the storm chaser roofing companies and the quality of the shingles used by their roofer are much lower quality than what Wolfpack used. You can definitely tell a difference in the quality of the shingles used just by looking at the roof.
I would use them again in the future and will…
I just got a new roof put on by Wolfpack Roofing and could not be more pleased with the results. Michael Boy the owner came and met with my wife and I and went through the entire process with us and answered all of our questions. When we were having a hard time with color choices he took the time to send examples of other homes with the colors we were looking at to help narrow down our choice. At no time was he pushy like many of the storm chaser roofing companies out there. Now on to the crew he sent out, they worked hard and were there from first light in the morning till the sun went down for two days. I was extremely impressed with the pride they take in their work. I consider myself pretty demanding in details and could find nothing they did that was remotely questionable be it the amount of old rotted decking they had to replace due to improperly done work when the house was new, the sharp lines they cut where the roofing met the edge of an eave, or the painting of all the vents. To finish it off they tried to inconvenience my family as little as possible and did a great job with the cleanup. I would use them again in the future and will recommend them going forward to my friends and family.
Stucco Repair Questions
Can You Match The Texture Of My Existing Stucco?
Yes. Texture-matching is part of every repair we do. The goal is that you look at the finished work and can’t find where the repair was. It takes more time than spraying a coat over it and calling it done, but a patch that looks like a patch isn’t a repair. It’s just visible evidence that something went wrong.
Do You Also Handle Painting After The Repair?
Yes. Felipe handles both stucco and paint, which means the repair and the finish come from the same person with the same professional standard. If the repair area needs to be blended into the surrounding wall color, that’s part of the conversation from the start.
How Can You Tell If There’s Wood Damage Behind The Stucco?
Mostly through reading the surface, and years of doing this in Austin. The most reliable tell is dimensionality: if the stucco has started to bulge or push away from flat, that’s not the stucco shifting. Stucco is concrete. It doesn’t change shape unless something behind it gave it a reason to. A bulge almost always means the plywood behind it got saturated with water and swelled. In some cases, we can give you a confident read before we open anything. In others, the only way to know is to get in there. Either way, you’ll see photos of what we found before anything gets closed back up.
I Thought It Was A Roof Leak. Could It Be Stucco?
Yes, and this comes up all the time. A failing stucco section on a chimney, a parapet wall, or an exterior wall face lets water in just as effectively as a damaged roof — sometimes more so. I’ve gone out on a lot of “roof leaks” that turned out to be stucco. I’ll tell you which one it is, and I won't sell you a roof repair if that’s not the actual problem.
The Crack Looks Small. Does It Actually Need To Be Fixed?
Usually yes, and the sooner the better. Stucco isn’t waterproof. Even a hairline crack is an opening for water to reach the wood behind it. Once moisture gets in, it soaks into the plywood, the wood swells, and rot sets in quietly. The exterior can look mostly fine while that process is well underway. A small crack repaired early is a few hundred dollars. Left alone, the same crack can grow into a wood damage situation that costs many times more. We’ll tell you honestly which situation you’re in.
What Areas Around Austin Do You Service?
We serve Austin and the surrounding area, like Meridian, Circle C, and Shady Hollow. Visit our Service Areas page for the full list.
What Does A Stucco Repair Typically Cost?
It depends on what we find. Small cracks caught early run a few hundred dollars. A chimney face that needs to be fully re-stuccoed runs into the low thousands. If there’s meaningful wood damage behind the surface, costs go up from there. We’ll walk you through exactly what we found and why before any of that work starts. We don’t quote ranges designed to anchor you high. After the assessment, you’ll get a real number.
Where Can I Learn More About Wolfpack?
Why Does Stucco Need Special Paint?
Regular exterior paint doesn’t flex. Stucco moves seasonally and with temperature changes, and standard paint cracks right along with it, which defeats the point of sealing the repair.
Elastomeric paint has real elasticity. It stretches with minor surface movement instead of cracking through it. It’s more expensive than standard exterior paint, and it’s the only product that we trust to hold long-term on stucco. Every repair we do gets finished with it.
Why Is My Austin Stucco Cracking More Than It Used To?
Stucco is designed for dry climates. It handles heat well, but it wasn’t built for the combination of Austin humidity and the hard freeze cycles of the last few years. Austin has seen three freeze events where temperatures swung from around 70°F to near zero and back, in less than two weeks each time. That kind of expansion and contraction is more than most stucco systems here were built to handle. The cracks are going to happen. The question is whether you’re catching them early.
